Marjorie Nash Sherrod

Savannah- Marjorie "Pie" Nash Sherrod, 87, died Tuesday, November 24, 2009, at St. Joseph's Hospital, surrounded by her family.
She was born May 28, 1922 in Hanover County, Virginia. She was one of ten children born to Bernard James Nash and Irma Tyler Nash. After graduating from high school in Richmond, Virginia, she worked for the telephone company during WWII. In 1947, she married Jack Patterson Sherrod and moved to Savannah. Pie, as she was affectionately known, was a homemaker, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a member of Ferguson Avenue Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five sisters, Betty Ann Nash, Muriel Nash Templeman, Genevieve Nash Eubank, Thelma Nash Hamilton, Ophelia Nash Benton and brother, Bernard James Nash, Jr.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Pat Sherrod, of Savannah; four children, Patricia Sherrod Myers, of Raleigh, NC, William Dewey Sherrod, of Savannah, John Stephen Sherrod, of Rincon, Jack Timothy Sherrod, of Savannah; brothers, Robert Nash, Norwood Nash, John Nash; nine grandchildren, Daniel, Sarah, Rachel, Rebecca, Emily, Lauren, Travis, Timmy, Chris; two great-grandchildren, Anna Grace, Malaina and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service: 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 28, 2009 at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel. The Family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 p.m. until time of service. Burial will follow in Bonaventure Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that remembrances be made to Hospice Savannah, Inc. P.O. Box 13190, Savannah, GA 31316.
